Being stunning and confident is not about designer labels, flawless makeup or expensive accessories, although I do acknowledge that they can elevate an outfit.

True confidence begins with Presentability

Dr. Thomas Ruetzler (2012) an academic researcher in hospitality and consumer behaviour. Conducted research in investigating 7 attributes associated with favourable interview presentation, including overall physical attractiveness, neatness and grooming, clothing colour, conservative versus trendy attire, professional versus casual attire and body modifications (including tattoos and piercings).

Topic: What is Professional Attire Today? One of the study's key findings was:

The most important indicators of professionalism were grooming and business attire.

Being Presentable, not just on special occasions like gatherings, parties, the office or a casual catch-up, but every time you step into a social setting.

Presentability is about self-care, grooming, confidence and etiquette. It is also about awareness, intention and the choices you make every single time. Believing that Confidence can be a by-product of being Presentable.

A well-fitted outfit or one that suits you well will always look better than an expensive outfit that does not suit you. Clean, polished grooming speaks louder than following trends and the label you wear. No one is perfect and you don't have to be either. But, there can be a yardstick.

A basic checklist before you step out:

  • Personal Grooming - Showered, brushed your teeth, washed your face?

  • Your Outfit - Clean, well-fitted, neatly pressed?

  • Your Hair - Clean and well-groomed?

  • Your Footwear - Appropriate for your outfit and the occasion?

  • The Finishing Touches - A Watch, a Bag, Fragrance or accessories?

    All checked?

This checklist is about awareness. Would you care? That's the intention.

How can you be Presentable?

Let's take one step at a time.

By choosing comfort in everything you wear. If you are not comfortable with something, don't wear it just because it is trending. I have met many people, including my clients who buy outfits, prints, patterns and colours only because they followed an influencer, were trending and were available in stores, but not particularly because they liked it.

What's trending today may be out tomorrow and remember Comfort, however, will outshine fashion every time and no label can sell comfort, it is individual and unique as you are.

Whether my styling client is corporate professional, an entrepreneur, a business owner, a new mom, a social butterfly, a student or a homemaker, my recommendation is always the same.

Comfort First. Prioritise it over anything.

Confidence Comes From Feeling Comfortable In Your Own Skin.
